PTFE compression packing, Polytetrafluoroethylene, is known for its exceptionally high resistance to chemicals and low friction. Garlock PTFE Compression Packing product line includes valve stem packing, food grade packing and chemically resistant packing for pumps and rotary equipment. PTFE dispersion ensures a low friction finish and pre- vents leakage through the braid.

Style 5888

This dimensionally stable, firm, high-density PTFE continuous filament fiber packing is similar to Style 5889, but most useful in slower shaft speed applications. Its PTFE dispersion provides a low friction finish and prevents leakage through the braid. Style 5888 is resistant to all chemicals but molten uranium salts. Completely asbestos-free, with very little water absorption, this packing is often used in check and needle valve stems, reciprocating rods, rams, and plungers, and safety injection system valves.

VALVE STEM PACKING WITH SUPERIOR CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

  • High density, dimensionally stable-very little water absorption
  • Ideal for valve and slower shaft speed applications
  • PTFE dispersion ensures a low friction finish and prevents leakage through the braid
  • Resistant to most chemicals
  • For oxygen service, specify Style 5898.

Style 5889

A continuous filament PTFE fiber. Style 5889 is a dimensionally stable yet relatively soft and flexible packing. Treated with PTFE dispersion and an inert ingredient, it's an excellent choice for high speed rotary shaft service in marine, waste/water treatment, and most volatile applications. Pre-shrunk to avoid packing wear and shaft scoring, Style 5889 is also very non-porous. It's often found in sump pumps, chlorinators, alkaline softeners, slip-type expansion joints, strong acid situations, coke plant hot oil pumps, reciprocating rods, rams and plungers.

CHEMICALLY RESISTANT FOR PUMPS AND ROTARY EQUIPMENT

  • Preshrunk to avoid packing wear and shaft scoring
  • Soft, flexible but very nonporous
  • Excellent choice for rotary shaft service

* Not recommended for chlorine service

Style 5904

Style 5904 is made from high purity PTFE filament lubricated with mineral oil - both of which conform to USDA and FDA standards. It is also highly chemically resistant and suitable for use in caustic service. Style 5904 is recommended for use in rotary food processing equipment such as pumps, dryers, blenders, mixers and cookers as well as acidic mining pumps.

RUGGED AND NONTOXIC

  • Ideal for food processing applications
  • Pliable, wear-resistant and dimensionally stable
  • Resists most caustic media
  • Ingredients conform to USDA requirements and meet FDA Title 21 CFR 172.878, 177.1550, 178.3570 and 178.3620(a)
